Around the World

Establishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources
I established contact with one colleage in Puerto Rico who is working as Coordinator in one of the Early Head Start programs in a low income neighborhood.  Ms. Esquilin expressed how she loves what she does, and she has been doing this job for more than 10 years now.  The most difficult part in working for children, she said, is working in a community where criminal activities occur every day.  She has hope that the early childhood program can make a difference in the children lives, and little by little change the mentality of the future of the country.
I tried to establish contact with a UNICEF representative in Cuba, but I did not have a response yet.  I am working in getting communication with representatives from Latin American, more likely with Venezuela, Cuba, and Ecuador.
